In 1971, Touro College opened its doors in New York City and welcomed an inaugural class of 35 students. Today, Touro University is home to 113,000 alumni and 19,000 students, studying in 36 schools at campuses across the city, across the country, and around the globe. And as we've changed our place in the world, it is now time to change the way we present ourselves to the world.

It speaks both to the strength of our founding mission and the power of our vision for the future. Next, to emphasize our university designation, we locked up our initials T and U in a new monogram.

For centuries, the shield has been used as a symbol of prestige and excellence in institutions of higher education. Our monogram was then modified to incorporate this timeless icon.
