Touro College of Pharmacy
A desire to help patients and be a part of a healthcare team is why Touro College of Pharmacy (TCOP) student Hebah Kharoufeh chose to become a pharmacist. “I want to volunteer for counseling clinics in underserved areas. I want to educate my patients on the importance of vaccines. And I want to directly impact my patients’ lives,” she says. Hebah values the direct role pharmacists play in patient care as well as the many exciting career possibilities within the field.
With so many career options to choose from, Hebah is grateful to Touro College of Pharmacy for offering invaluable networking opportunities and ensuring that students are well-equipped to work in a variety of settings. “Touro provides students with excellent resources to discover what they enjoy most and which path they may want to pursue. Electives include laboratory research, drugs toxicology, leadership, and an introduction to the pharmaceutical industry, all of which are amazing fields for a pharmacist to be in,” she says. Hebah also credits Touro’s state-of-the-art labs and cutting-edge technology, along with the rigorous curriculum, with ensuring students are prepared to pass the licensing exams.
After graduation, Hebah plans to continue her education with a post-doctoral residency and fellowship. “My long-term goal is to work in the pharmaceutical industry on the development and regulation of novel drugs that will change people’s lives,” she says of her future ambitions.
