Touro College of Pharmacy
A keen interest in the body and how medications work led Dylan Kraus to consider a career as a pharmacist. Now a student at Touro College of Pharmacy (TCOP), Kraus is realizing the many rewards of his chosen profession. “I appreciate the unique ability to care for and counsel patients. At Touro College of Pharmacy, I have learned how the perspective of the pharmacist can critically improve patient care,” Kraus says.
TCOP’s clinical faculty, many of whom still work in hospitals, provide students direct insight into how pharmacy operates in the real world, something Kraus finds incredibly valuable. Just as important, students receive personalized attention that ensure they are set up for success in the field. “Smaller class sizes and the accessibility of the faculty are some of the biggest strengths of the school,” he explains. The school’s rigorous curriculum also offers more time dedicated to clinical rotations than most other pharmacy schools. “I will be well-prepared to enter the field due to the extra time spent in rotations,” Kraus says.
As he begins to look to the future, Kraus is assessing his options and whether he would like to specialize. “Currently, I want to either go into clinical or ambulatory care pharmacy. The amazing thing about Touro Pharmacy is the exposure to the field and the great diversity of career paths, many of which I didn’t even know existed,” he says.
