Touro’s Lander College for Men
New York Medical College
Eitan Glucksman was drawn to the medical field because of a deep desire to change the lives of others. By the time he was in college, he knew he was going to be a doctor—and Touro has been part of that journey every step of the way. “Starting at the undergraduate level, Touro has provided me with the foundation necessary to guide me towards a promising and successful career in the medical field.”
Eitan especially loved the way Touro gave him flexibility in structuring his daily life. He wanted to study Torah while also pursuing a quality education, and he didn’t want to compromise either. “The School enabled me to have peace of mind during my undergraduate and medical school training, knowing that I wouldn’t have to compromise on my Jewish values and principles in the pursuit of becoming a physician.”
After graduating from New York Medical College, Eitan became a medical resident at Westchester Medical and is well on his way to pursuing a career as a urologist. “Urology is a challenging field that incorporates the latest scientific and technological advances. It requires me to be a diligent detective who is able to piece together various portions of a patient’s medical history and physical exam to determine what is causing a specific ailment. When patients say, ‘Thank you for helping me,’ it feels like I’m making a difference in the world and it means a lot to me.”
As a resident, Eitan has the opportunity to mentor younger students and offer helpful advice to make their experience a little easier. After his five-year residency is completed, he plans to take a fellowship and ultimately become a surgeon. “I’m looking forward to performing surgery and being able to assist patients with complex issues—diagnosing, treating, and improving lives.”
Through it all, Eitan credits Touro with preparing him to pursue and accomplish his dream. “Touro really provides a top-notch education. We can compete with students from med schools all over the U.S., perform at the highest level and work alongside the best and brightest in the field. Caring for patients is both challenging and rewarding, and I would not be where I am today without Touro. My hope for the future is to perfect my surgical skills and to become a well-rounded, well-versed urologist who is able to make a difference.”
