Touro’s Lander College for Men
Touro College of Dental Medicine
For as long as he can remember, Zachary Mann has been interested in becoming a dentist. “I appreciate the blend of the technical hand skills, artistry and science involved in dentistry,” he shares. Plus, it’s a way to put his strengths to use in ways that improve the lives of others. “I love that dentistry offers the opportunity to interact with and help patients. I feel fortunate and look forward to able to use my skills to help others.”
Zachary opted to attend Touro’s Lander College for Men (LCM) for his undergraduate degree because it allowed him to continue his Jewish studies while preparing for dental school. “Lander College for Men has an amazing program, which offered exactly what I was looking for. I was able to be on campus and learn in a beautiful Beis Medrash in the morning and take college classes in the afternoon.”
Along with the flexibility he found at Touro, the faculty also provided a tremendous amount of support. “The professors offered an excellent education, and my advisors spent a lot of time with me, offering guidance and advice regarding preparing for the Dental Admissions Test (DAT), applying to dental school, creating a resume, and improving my interview skills.”
That positive experience made his decision to attend Touro for dental school an easy one. “Since I enjoyed my undergraduate years at Touro so much, continuing my educational career at Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) was a natural transition.”
Currently in his third year of dental school at TCDM, Zachary has started his clinical training, which includes meeting with patients, discussing treatment plans, and completing treatment under the guidance and supervision of clinical faculty members. He also has the opportunity to explore different areas of dentistry and work under the supervision of a wide range of specialists, which he hopes will help him to decide if he wants to specialize or work as a general dentist.
Zachary points out that TCDM has state-of-the-art facilities where he gets to use cutting-edge equipment every day. “TCDM has the most up-to-date technology in the dental educational world, and my classmates and I are being trained in both the newest digital techniques, as well as the original analog techniques.” He also raves about the faculty and how he’s experienced the same kind of support he did at LCM. “The highly trained professors at TCDM are excited to prepare their students for practice, offering valuable information they have learned throughout their careers.”
While he’s still exploring different aspects of dentistry, Zachary feels confident that he’ll be able to build a successful career. “TCDM takes pride in preparing every single student to be the best practitioner they can be.” He knows that whether he becomes a specialist or a general dentist, he’ll have the skills and knowledge to improve his patients’ lives – and that’s a future he’s excited to embrace.
