Touro’s Lander College of Arts and Sciences

Michael Indig grew up in Montreal, Quebec, with five brothers and two supportive parents. He was an avid (if not star) hockey player for much of his young life, honing the hand-eye coordination he’d eventually need for his chosen career as a dentist.
Michael is a self-described “neat freak,” and chose dentistry as a career partly because, as he says, “Neatness counts, and it gives me great pleasure when things are in an orderly fashion and where they are supposed to be.” He also loved the social aspect. “You can have meaningful and insightful conversations with your patients.”
As the first person in his family to pursue higher education, Michael felt a little lost trying to navigate college applications and credits—but Touro was there to help, guiding him through the many steps required. Touro was the perfect fit, as their smaller class size meant the professors had time to really give individual attention to those that needed it most.
After undergrad, Michael says Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) was at the top of his list. “I heard amazing things about how they are leading the charge in digital dentistry and teaching their students how to become dentists of the future. The fact that they are embracing and teaching digital dentistry, and are staffed by world-renowned, caring faculty made it the obvious choice for me and gives me the best opportunity to become a superb healthcare provider and a dentist of the future. It was too good of an opportunity to pass up.”
Now a student at TCDM, Michael feels confident that he made the right choice. “The faculty, fellow students and the culture here makes it THE destination for students who want to give their prospective patients the absolute best care equipped with the most modern technology available. The fact that the school is under Jewish auspices is unique and gives us a great opportunity to create a Kiddush Hashem every single day. I feel like we are one big happy family, and I am so excited to continue my education here and to be a part of something truly special.”
