Brian Chiswell, Ph.D.
Deputy Chair
Assistant Professor
Department of Biology
NYSCAS - New York School of Career and Applied Studies
Brian P. Chiswell´s expertise is in the biochemical and structural characterization of protein interactions. He is now an Assistant Professor at Touro University in Manhattan and Deputy Chair of the New York School of Career and Applied Studies (NYSCAS) division. Dr. Chiswell is an ASBMB Education fellow and has an active undergraduate research lab where students study the molecular detail of cell signaling and transcriptional regulation in stem cells.
Areas of Expertise
Biochemistry, structural biology, stem cells, cancer and science education
Education
Brian P. Chiswell received a B.S. in Biology from Francis Marion University (Florence, SC) and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of South Carolina. Following graduate school, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Yale University School of Medicine in the Department of Pharmacology studying integrin signaling under Dr. David A. Calderwood. Then Dr. Chiswell spent three years performing discovery stage research in the biotechnology industry working on methods to induce pluripotency and direct differentiation of cells.
