Mitchell S. Cairo is professor of pediatrics, medicine, pathology, microbiology and immunology and cell biology and anatomy, and associate chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at New York Medical College. He earned his medical degree at the the University of Wisconsin and University of California, San Francisco, and he completed a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Indiana University. A researcher and a practicing physician, Dr. Cairo is also chief of pediatric hematology, oncology and stem cell transplantation, and director of the Children and Adolescent Cancer and Blood Diseases Center at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center. His work focuses on cancer genetics, tumor immunology, transplantation biology, stem cell biology and regenerative medicine.
