FOLCS Eighth Annual Awards Night + Screening Days
Forum on Life, Culture & Society (FOLCS) at Touro College presents the Eighth Annual Awards Night + Screening Days
This year, for the very first time, FOLCS will be virtually hosting its annual International Short Film Competition. In the spirit of continuing to provide a public service for our audiences sheltered at home, we will be making our independent short films and the 8th Annual Awards Night available to you at times when gathering together in person is not possible. There will be an online conversation with filmmakers and guests on April 8th, 2021, for our 8th Annual Awards Night. Audiences will be able to submit questions to the moderator
Register now to reserve your place and secure screening access to the eight finalist films.
HOW IT WORKS
Registering for this event will allow you to screen the finalists’ films over a period of five days (Screening Days), and the opportunity to tune in to our Awards Night, where we will hold a virtual discussion with our finalist filmmakers and present the awards. The presentation will include awards for Best Short, 2nd and 3rd places, Audience Favorite, and Best Screenplay.
To view the list of finalist films (available now) and get access to screen the films (available April 5), visit the FOLCS eighth Annual Awards Night event page.
HOW TO ATTEND
1. Register online now to secure your access to screening the eight finalist films. Links to films are only for the individual who registered a ticket. You may not forward or share the link with others.
2. On April 5, 2021, you will receive an email with instructions on how to unlock and watch the films online; OR you can visit the FOLCS event page and click on the “WATCH THE FILMS” button. The films’ streaming links will be available in a 48 hours block after the initial start time on April 5, 2021. You will have access to the block until April 10, 2021. Anytime you begin watching the films, you will have access to all the films for the following 48 hours.
3. After watching all eight films, you will be prompted to vote for your favorite short, which will be counted towards the Audience Favorite Award (note that polling will close on April 8 at 7:00 pm ET, so don’t forget to cast your vote!).
Please note that the first 200 registrants will be able to watch the films free of charge. After that, a $2 fee will be charged for unlocking all eight films.
This special program is produced in partnership with the New York Film Academy.
