Flattening the Pyramid: Perspectives on a Modern Approach to Healthcare
Dr. Dorafshar will highlight real-life applications of collaborative medical education to produce functional patient-oriented teams in which the whole is far greater than the sum of the individual parts. Scientific and technological innovations have led to a rapid evolution in healthcare enabling us to evaluate and treat more patients at a faster pace than ever before. How have modern healthcare advances such as face and uterine transplant become possible and how do different healthcare providers fit into this complex and ever-changing environment? This keynote will share perspectives on teamwork and trust as the cornerstones to building success within the healthcare system.

Rush University
Dr. Dorafshar has distinguished himself as a national and international leading expert in microvascular reconstruction and adult and pediatric craniofacial surgery for congenital, oncological or traumatic conditions. He is currently the Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Dorafshar has helped to further develop the fields of craniofacial microsurgery, computer-assisted surgery in craniofacial surgery and bone tissue engineering. He has co-authored more than 200 indexed articles, written several book chapters and co-edited textbooks on facial trauma surgery and computer-assisted surgery in craniofacial surgery.
