Where is the appointment?

When you schedule an appointment through Microsoft Bookings, please indicate whether you want a Zoom appointment or an in-person appointment.

After you book an appointment, you will receive a confirmation email.

If you book a Zoom appointment, the Zoom link for the appointment will be included in the confirmation email.

Appointment timing:

A typical tutoring session lasts 45-60 minutes.

We offer daytime and evening hours Sunday through Friday. Please see our Microsoft Bookings page for specialist-specific availability.

Some appointment hours are only available via Zoom; this includes all Sunday appointment hours.

What to expect and what to not expect:

  • We will assist you with any grammar, spelling, punctuation, citation, etc. errors we find while reading your work, but we are not an editing service. We DO NOT offer proofreading and copyediting services.
  • During appointments we are happy to explain APA rules and guide you through composing one or two citations. We WILL NOT spend an entire appointment reviewing and correcting your citations.
Twice per semester, we offer a workshop on APA formatting and citation guidelines to give you the tools you need to properly use citations, and two times per semester, we offer office hours on APA formatting and citation management so that you can ask citation- and formatting-specific questions. If you require immediate assistance, please see our tutorials page, which features several online resources for proper formatting and citation rules.

Appointment Policies and Procedures:

  • Specialists do not read student work before the scheduled appointment. In other words, even if you send the specialist your seminar paper, cover letter, resume, etc. ahead of the appointment hour, the specialist will not read your work before the appointment begins. We do this because we are here to coach you rather than be your editor.
  • If you are bringing written work to the appointment, please note that the specialist will use the first 10-30 minutes of the appointment to read your writing / review your work. The rest of the time will be spent discussing their comments and suggestions.
  • Because all review is accomplished during the appointment hour, please do not bring more than 15-20 pages of writing to one appointment.
  • During the appointment hour, the specialist might offer you a few options:
    • If you bring in 15-20 pages, the specialist will ask if you would like them to skim the 15-20 pages or if you would prefer that they closely read 7-10 pages.
    • If you bring in 15-20 pages, the specialist might ask you to identify certain sections that you think require the most attention.
  • We limit appointments to two per two weeks per student. Students have the option of doing two appointments in one week or one per week.
  • Back-to-back appointments (even if they are with different specialists) are not permitted.
  • Appointments cannot exceed 60 minutes.
  • Appointments may be scheduled only up to two weeks in advance.
  • If our hours of availability are not convenient, please email us at graduatewritingcenter@touro.edu, and we will try to accommodate your scheduling needs.

Faculty can refer a student and request a classroom visit.
