Wellness & Counseling at Touro
The department of student mental health services offers free short term counseling to Touro students. Through counseling, we can help you identify stressors and issues that are interfering with your studies. You can gain confidence and the skills you need to handle these concerns and make positive life changes. We offer single sessions, short term sessions, and group sessions, depending on your needs. Some students find that a single session is enough to handle an issue while others request several meetings. We also make referrals if someone requires more long-term counseling. All of our services are free of charge and are offered virtually or in person.

Single Session Counseling
Sometimes you just need a listening ear to help you overcome an issue or concern. Schedule a meeting with a counselor to discuss what’s on your mind, one-on-one.
You can benefit from single session counseling if you are facing a problem but don’t know how to fix it or if you are looking for solutions that you can immediately begin to implement in your life.
We can help address problems with peers, friends, family members etc., and help you work through a difficult decision or stress about balancing life demands.
Short-term Counseling
This type of counseling can benefit you if you are looking for more consistent meetings with a counselor to discuss issues and strategies to cope with situations in your life.
Short-term counseling can help you with issues such as:
- Identifying negative patterns in your life and ways to change those patterns
- Managing stress or grief
- setting boundaries with others
- managing anxiety or depression
Group Counseling
Group counseling allows you to join together with others to discuss issues while gaining support from one another. Our counselor lead groups that are a safe place for you to explore your emotions and thoughts. These groups are offered throughout the semester. Look for wellness events on the calendar or below.
