Mandatory Training in the Protection of Human Subjects in Research for "Old" Common Rule Projects
Educational Program for Those Involved with Human Subjects Research
The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program is a leading provider of research ethics, compliance, and professional development education. Touro University has subscribed to the CITI Program for its human subjects' research training requirements, as well as many other research-training topics. The CITI course is an online, self-paced, modular program. Learn more about the CITI Program at their website: www.CITIprogram.org.
All research personnel defined as anyone participating in any research activity involving human subjects, has contact with human subjects and/or access to research data, must complete the CITI courses. You will be required to complete either the Biomedical (All) Research Personnel or Social & Behavioral Research Personnel course, the Conflict of Interest course, a Good Clinical Practice (GCP) course, and 2 Webinars: Cost Allowability on Federally Sponsored Awards, A Beginner's Guide to Being a Sponsor-Investigator which are available on-line at: www.CITIprogram.org.
- Research personnel must complete the CITI courses before research can begin.
- Failure to comply with this requirement will result in delayed permission to initiate or continue conducting human subject research
As in most professions, continuing education is a means to update members on new information as well as to reinforce the basic foundation. As an added benefit and incentive, CITI affords the opportunity, for a fee, to obtain CME credits. If you do not choose to obtain CME credits, the courses are free.
