Ross Zucker

Dr. Ross Zucker is Professor of Political Science and Deputy Chair of the department for the
Lander College for Men. He received his M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in political science, each
with distinction, from Yale University. Professor Zucker has published articles in journals of
law and jurisprudence. In addition, he presented a new theory of property rights in his book
Democratic Distributive Justice published by Cambridge University Press. The book was named
an Outstanding Academic Title 2001 by Choice: Current Reviews for Academic Libraries. He
has interdisciplinary interests in law, economics, philosophy, and political science.

Prof. Zucker’s current research continues his studies of democracy and economic justice, this
time by inquiring into the nature of economic freedom and the distributive requirements of
freedom as well as democracy’s responsibilities for the maintenance of economic freedom.

Ross Zucker is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Social Philosophy and of the
Columbia University faculty colloquium on Political Economy and Contemporary Social Issues.
