Little Red Riding Hood and the AI Basket: Packing the Perfect Course Toolkit
Weaving AI into course design—smart tools, strong foundations, and no wolves in disguise!
Just like Little Red Riding Hood carefully packs her basket for the journey ahead, educators must thoughtfully assemble their AI-assisted course design toolkit—ensuring it is filled with the right mix of tools, content, and engagement strategies. AI can streamline course creation, assist with structuring lessons, and enhance interactivity, but just as the wolf disguises himself as Grandma, misleading shortcuts and unchecked AI-generated content can create pitfalls.
This session will open with a lighthearted yet insightful exploration of course design using an unconventional example: an Introduction to Basket Weaving course. Through this lens, we will examine how AI can aid in structuring a course from scratch, from defining objectives to generating assessments and interactive components. Attendees will then engage in a collaborative discussion, sharing their own experiences with course design and development while reflecting on the role AI has played—or could play—in their instructional processes. Together, we will explore how to ensure AI remains a trusted assistant rather than an unreliable shortcut.
