Her passion to promote education includes eight years of service on her local school board, which spanned the rollercoaster COVID meltdown era. Moon is currently creating a mathematics curriculum for grades 6-12 to promote mathematical thinking and mental wellness.
Keynote
What can teachers do to help improve their students' mental health without compromising learning? With practical, evidence-based ideas, Eaton and Moon make the case that with some intentionality, teachers can simultaneously improve learning and wellness in their classrooms—and that the need is greater than ever to do both. Among other strategies, they will highlight the benefits of becoming natural mentors to students and designing courses with mental health needs in mind.
Workshop
Eaton and Moon will drill down into two more strategies: fostering emotional resilience and promoting wellness. Participants will get a chance to roll up their sleeves, collaborate in small groups and develop concrete ideas for immediate implementation.
This event is open to all Touro University faculty.
